When you become a follower of Jesus Christ, life is different. You move from darkness to light. Death to life. Hopelessness to joy. A chaotic life to a life of purpose. God works in you to do something new because you have made a choice to no longer live in sin but to live a holy and righteous life. Due to your new faith in Jesus, you begin to make life choices that are honoring to God. That is what Peter is talking about to the Christian church in 1 Peter 2: 11-12. He says,

When we think about royalty we think of kings and queens, carriages and castles, ballrooms and gowns, and tiaras and crowns. In our mind we have a picture of what royalty looks like and we are spectators looking in from the outside out. But never do we think of ourselves as royalty. But what if I told you that you are royalty? What if you are a daughter and son of a King? Would you believe me? Most of us don’t think of ourselves that way but that is who we are. 1 Peter 2: 9-1
