I Am Not Junk

Do you say to yourself "I wish I looked like .... ", "if only I had smoother skin" or "if I could lose 10 pounds" or "I was just funnier than ...." or "If I was rich".

When we say those things to ourselves what we are really saying is we are not good enough. That we must do more, or look different, or be different in order to be accepted by the world and others.

But the Bible says we are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139). Often we do not think about ourselves in that way, but that is what God’s Word says about us. We are fearfully and wonderfully made! God knew what He was doing when He created you and me. It’s time to start appreciating how God created us versus wanting to be or look like someone else. Whatever we need in this life to do - looks, talents, gifting’s, etc. God has given it to us for that purpose.

When we get consumed about what we are not versus what we do have we will not live life enjoying it nor accomplishing our purpose. We will get distracted and fail to be all that God wants us to be.

Take the time to say to yourself in the morning, when you look at yourself in the mirror that you are “fearfully and wonderfully made”. Begin to appreciate who you are in Christ and see the difference it will make about how you think about yourself and others.
