Is God Late or on Time?

When we are waiting for a breakthrough – like complete healing, for our marriage to be strong, a financial blessing -we may think God is late. But is God really late? Or is He on time?

Just because we don't get an answer from God on OUR time, it does not mean He’s late. Rather God is just working all things out for our good in HIS time (Romans 8: 28).. Remember, our time is not God’s time. “With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day” (2 Peter 3: 8). With that in mind, there is no such thing as “being late”.

Late is a word we use to describe how we feel – we are tired of waiting. It’s the phrase we use when we are frustrated and angry with our circumstances. It’s what we say when we don’t understand a situation we are going through or why we have to go through it. By saying God “is late” we put boundaries and limits on God, forgetting that God functions outside of time and can do all things (Luke 1: 37). So let’s ask the question again. Is God late or on time?

Was God late when Abraham and Sarah had their son Isaac past childbearing age? Was God late when Lazarus died and was in the tomb for 4 days? Was God late when Hannah kept asking God for a child? Was God late, when Jesus died on Friday? The answer is no – He was not late. He was on time, because in every situation He proved Himself to be God – He did the impossible - and in the end God was glorified. This is true with our situation, God is not late – He will do the miracle in our life according to His will and purpose and when he does .... we will say "God was on time."
