It’s Going to Get Worst Before It Gets Better

I know the title of this blog didn’t excite you like other blog titles, but I’m sure you clicked on it because you know it’s true.

Why does it always seem like before something shifts or breaks in the atmosphere things have to get worse? I don’t like to say this, but it’s true.

Maybe you have heard sayings like the longer you have to wait on God, the bigger your blessing. When I first heard that saying, I shouted, “Yes!” But what do you do when it’s been a long time and things are not getting better? Things are getting worst.

Instead of healing, you got more bad news about your health.

Instead of restoration, there is more conflict.

Instead of justice, there’s more injustice.

Instead of becoming debt-free, you now have to pay for a car or home expenses.

It’s not getting better, it’s getting worst.

What do you do when life is not getting better? We can draw inspiration from the people written about in the Bible.

I think of someone like Naomi in the Bible. She was married and her two sons were married. But then life got rough. A famine came and not only did her husband die but her two sons died too. After much grief, she decided to return to her homeland and she told the people to call her Mara. “Call me Mara, because the Almighty has made my life very bitter. I went away full, but the Lord has brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi? The Lord has afflicted me; the Almighty has brought misfortune upon me.” Ruth 1:20-21 NIV

And what about David? He was running for his life when he was called to be a king. He had the opportunity to kill King Saul twice, but he kept his integrity and did not kill the man who was trying to murder him. He waited on God.

And what about Abraham, who was waiting on God to do what he said he would do, which was to become a dad? Yet, 5 years, 10, years even 25 years passed nothing happened.

Finally, what about Jesus who had to experience the ultimate suffering and pain known to humanity when he didn’t even commit a crime? He was innocent. Yet was accused. Mocked. Beaten. Stripped his clothes. Put on a cross. Killed for not committing any crime.

All of these people experienced hard, terrible, and difficult situations, but still made spiritual choices that we can make too. Just like them…

We move forward in life taking it day by day.

We keep our integrity and do what is right despite how we feel.

We have faith even when we look around and it feels hopeless.

We are obedient to God and do what he has called us to do.

Because in the end, something will change.

It will get better.

You will see a breakthrough.

But before that time, it will get worst.

But don’t hold unto worst, hold on to hope.

Because life will get better and breakthroughs will happen. How do I know this? Because Naomi got to live and see her grandson, David became king, Abraham had his son Isaac and Jesus resurrected on the cross!

So you see yes it will get worst, but it will get better.

You just have to hold on and hold out.

Don’t stop now.

Prayer: Father in heaven, we thank you for this day. We know you have a plan and purpose for our life. Sometimes we don't understand but we choose to trust you anyways. Your ways are good. You are good and your plan for us is perfect. We just have to trust and walk alongside you. Lead us in the right way and path. In Jesus's Name. Amen
